H2M Inc. is committed to providing a work environment which is safe and secure and where all workers are treated with respect and dignity. Our workplaces will be free from threats, intimidation and violence and workplace harassment will not be tolerated from any person in the workplace including other employers or employees on our sites, clients, managers, supervisors, our workers or any other visitor to our workplace.
Workplace harassment means engaging in a course of vexatious (annoying/bothersome) comment or conduct against any worker that is known or ought reasonably to be known to be unwelcome or workplace sexual harassment. Workplace sexual harassment means:
- engaging in a course of vexatious (annoying/bothersome) comment or conduct against a worker in a workplace because of sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression, where the course of comment or conduct is known or ought reasonably to be known to be unwelcome, or
- making a sexual solicitation or advance where the person making the solicitation or advance is in a position to confer, grant or deny a benefit or advancement to the worker and the person knows or ought reasonably to know that the solicitation or advance is unwelcome;
Reasonable action taken by the employer or supervisor relating to the management and direction of team members or the workplace is not workplace harassment. Neither is this policy meant to inhibit free speech or interfere with normal social relations.
To assist in the implementation of this Policy, team members and others engaged in business with H2M Inc. are encouraged to report any incidents of workplace violence or harassment to the appropriate management representative.
Management will investigate and deal with all such complaints or incidents of workplace violence or harassment in a fair, respectful and timely manner. Information provided about an incident or about a complaint will not be disclosed except as necessary to protect workers, to investigate the complaint or incident, to take corrective action or as otherwise required by law.
All H2M Inc. managers, supervisors and employees are expected to adhere to this policy, and will be held responsible by the employer for not following it. Employees will not be penalized or disciplined for reporting an incident or for participating in an investigation involving workplace harassment.
Please refer to the Workplace Violence and Harassment Prevention Program (section 17 of the H2M Inc. Occupational Health and Safety Program) which has been developed to ensure the implementation of this Policy and includes the measures and procedures to protect our employees from workplace violence, a means of summoning immediate assistance and a process for team members to report incidents or raise concerns.
If an employee needs further assistance, he or she may contact the health and safety representative on site, the H2M Inc. Health and Safety Coordinator or the Human Rights Legal Support Centre.
